New Trails

Great improvements - the Rikert crew has added a couple of trails for the 2014/15 season.  It will add some fabulous new terrain, along babbling brooks, fields and woods, while improving the accessibility to the outer trails during races. Cannot wait to play on them!

Gilmore to First Loop!

Creating some ways around the race course will open up lots of skiable terrain even during big events.

Spring Skiing is here!

Nothing to complain about!
Awesome corn snow.  Full coverage.  High traffic trails provide a good poling platform.  Less traveled routes are a touch "punky".  Skating is excellent AND tracks are still in good shape for kick and gliders.
Get it while it lasts!!

Yipeee we got lots of snow.....thanks to Vulcan

The official ski report from Tom is that it is "Great!"

We worked all through the night to keep ahead of Vulcan - the snow storm, and packed, rolled and groomed everything possible.  A snow depth probe revealed at least three feet of snow out by Brown Gate!
The woods are quiet and protected from the winds and just feel like a winter wonder land.
This morning Jane and I skied out over Holland - Frost - Brown Gate - Upper Gilmore - Gilmore and back to the shop.  Alex headed out on snowshoes to find in his words: "great quality powder snow" - It truly is the best snow of the year!  You really don't want to miss out on this one!

Now back to the shop for a hot bowl of soup and some other yummy chow.

Bread Loaf Citizens Race 2014

Just under 100 participants came to ski the Umpteenth Annual Citizens Race at Rikert today.
We found the old banners and the bibs dating back to the first Citizens Race held at Rikert.

The trails are in great shape, and the skiing is wonderful, especially with the newly fallen snow.
The temps are to be in the mid 20's today.  Yesterday I skied up Inner Frost - Frost - Figure 8 and found it to be the best skiing I've done this season.

The Weekend

We had a full weekend of races, and some fantastic skiing, sunshine and smiles all around.
Yesterdays temperatures brought corn snow condition to the trails.

Today (Monday) the temperatures are a bit more seasonable - in the mid 20s.
Grooming is underway - the skiing is fast and wonderful, the Battell Forest and our Trails await you.

Send us your feedback, we'd love to hear about your trail experiences, see pictures and so on.
Off to eat and ski some more, see you out there,

Trail Notes from 2/11/14

What another beautiful day at Rikert.  Temperatures in the mid-teens with no wind seemed perfect on this sunny day.  We experienced a special treat when we posed for a selfie; I looked up to see 2 deer crossing in front of us on the Frost trail.

The trails were nicely groomed as usual and the staff is always friendly and very accommodating.  Thanks to you and the entire staff for paying attention to detail with excellent service and maintaining a beautiful facility.

Best,

Dan and Diane
