Filled with Dion Snowshoe Racers who covered a fantastic 5k course 

through fields, trails and single track wooded terrain - a most impressive

The trails groomed for classic and skate ski enthusiasts, are keeping smiles beaming. 

Refueling with locally made soups and freshly baked breads and pastries 

with a hot cup of cocoa by the wood stove - is pretty great.

Great skiing to be had - come and get it....

Snow has been falling and the skiing is getting better with every flake.  The "snow angels" have added some man made snow to the mix for a fantastic base.

Preparing for a great Nordic Ski season

September 2013

Now as kids have headed back to school, the leaves have begun to change, and apple trees are heavy with fruit, it is clear that Fall is about to round the corner quickly.  The time for warm apple cider, and the smell of apple pies are in the air, and the evenings require another layer of clothing.  

These are all harbingers of the frosty air that soon shall descend upon our mountains and bring us

wonderful SNOW.

Mike at Rikert Nordic has been hard at work preparing the trails for a fantastic winter season. 

This past week he has been very busy with a mini excavator upgrading drainage on the trails, and making a great re-route on the beginning part of the
Battell Trail.  

Finally Kids, that deep hole you used to get stuck in, is no longer part of your route.  The re-route parallels the old trail, but has a much more gentile approach through some beautiful hemlock trees.  Personally I cannot wait to ski on the new section of the trail.  

It just feels right and looks fantastic.

Finally after months of preparations, from trail building to shop renovations, the snow has finally arrived. 

Yeah, some of us got our wish, no not three feet, as Bill wanted, but rather three inches.  

Nevertheless it is enough for us all to go out there and gather some great gliding, sunshine and fresh air.  

Rikert is officially open for fun in the snow.  

And it is beautiful.
